Event Description

Don’t Be the Office Slob! Present a Polished Professional Persona with a Manners Makeover from the Boston Center for Adult Education

WHAT: Climbing the corporate ladder is a daunting task in today’s fast paced and highly competitive job market. Learn how to stand out from the crowd with “Manners Makeover,” a series of professional etiquette and protocol classes from the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE). Instructor Susan Callender, CEO of Oh My Gauche!, will teach students how to impress their interviewer, employer or client, no matter who they are or what the situation!

Everyone’s taught not to judge a book by its cover, but there’s no escaping the fact that people make judgments about what they see in mere seconds. Learn how to use body language to gain respect in “Creating a Positive Professional Image” and about proper communication in the cubicle with “Etiquette for the Office.” In addition, enjoy a four-course dinner and discover professional secrets for making your guests feel comfortable in “Dining Like a Diplomat”. With Callender’s help, students will find the confidence they need to secure the job, impress the boss or land the client!

This 3-session series will run every Wednesday, January 23rd, 2012 to February 6th, 2012, from 6:30PM—8:30PM. If students cannot attend the entire series, they may register for whichever individual session meets their needs. The cost of attendance is $60 for members and $70 for non-members per class.

Please visit www.bcae.org or call the Boston Center for Adult Education at 617-267-4430 for more information or to sign up.

The Instructor: Callender is a trusted and recognized etiquette expert, and the founder and CEO of Oh My Gauche!, a leading provider of etiquette and protocol training for clients in the continental United States and abroad. A recipient of the coveted “Best of Boston” award, she has compiled an enviable list of credentials, and has been featured in Boston magazine; the Boston Globe; the Boston Herald; CNN, ABC, and CBS affiliates; Daily Candy; the Improper Bostonian; Elegant Wedding; and National Public Radio.

Class Descriptions:

Creating A Positive Professional Image: We’re always communicating, whether we realize it or not. Learn how subtle changes in your hand-shake or body language can improve your reputation. Students will leave knowing ten ways to manage themselves in a meeting, twenty ways to make a positive first impression and ten methods for increasing their influence on the job.

Etiquette for the Office: Don’t be the office gossip or the fuel that drives the rumor mill! Learn the importance of everyday office etiquette and protocol from the cubicle to the boardroom. Other topics include communication, culture and corporate success.

Dining Like A Diplomat: Enjoy a full four-course dinner and discover professional secrets for making your guests feel comfortable and relaxed, whether they’re the boss, a client or anyone else you hope to impress. The instructor will cover the fine points of restaurant meeting etiquette, including who pays the check—and when.
